As you know, our Managed WordPress service allows you to add/create multiple websites very easy via our NOVA Client Area. In this guide, we’ll cover how to create a brand new additional WordPress website on your hosting plan.
Let’s start by logging in to our NOVA Client Area here.
On your main client page in NOVA, find your service & domain in the Your Active Services box and click on the WordPress icon on the right hand side:
This will take you directly to your WordPress Manager where you can install and manage your WordPress applications.
After that, click the New Installation button:
A New Installation window will pop up:
Now let’s see how we need to fill the above columns!
The Protocol column should be set to https://www so your site directs to a secure version.
Then you need to type in the Domain (this will be the name of your website, for example, skystra.com).
Type in a password in the Administrator Password column or automatically create one by clicking on the Generate button.
Next, choose what language you want your WordPress installation to be. English is automatically selected, maybe you’d like your WordPress to be in Spanish, French, German, etc – your choice!
The Administrator Username is by default called “admin” but can be changed into something more secure.
You can finish by clicking the Create button, but let’s not do that just now, as we still have a lot of features on the Other page; let’s check them out!
We’ve added the option to add a Description to your website (you can say in a couple of words what your website is about and this will help your SEO ratings improve!).
The Directory should be left empty if you want WordPress to be installed in https://www.domainname.com or add a name (for example “dir” if you want it to be installed in a custom folder https://www.domainname.com/dir).
The Database Name can be changed from the auto-generated name, if you want to have a custom name, the same goes for the Database Prefix + you have 3 new cool features that gives you:
- Auto Upgrade of your website (if newer versions pop up, they will be automatically installed)
- Auto Upgrade for your plugins
- Auto Upgrade for your themes
This means that once a new version of WordPress, a certain installed plugin or theme, will be available, we’ll automatically install it for you! Don’t forget to enable these features, in order to save your time and focus on your business, or if you want to do this manually, you can still auto upgrade all of the above, once you’ve installed WordPress (we’ll let you know below how to do this, no worries!).
Another cool feature here is enabling Multisite, let’s say for example you have more various domains or subdomains, you can link them all to your Managed WordPress install and access them from the same place. To finish everything, click on the Create button and you will see your website installed:
To see how the newly installed WordPress theme looks like, go ahead and open your website.
Usually, a very basic and default theme is installed, and your website will look something like this:
If for any reason you want to delete an existing WordPress installation and start a new one – follow these quick steps:
Go to the WordPress installation on your NOVA account, click on the Delete icon to the right of the installation:
Then you’ll get a pop up, make sure to enable deletion of directory and database and then click Confirm:
That will delete the installation and then you can follow the steps from the top to create a new one.
